ALARUM
Alarum was formed in 1992 by drummer Matt and joined soon after
guitarist Mark was recruited. Originated more in the Death metal
style, they gigged in Melbourne, released the "Another World" demo
1994, and later recorded a track for DEF Records' "Death Down
Under" compilation CD in 1995. Later that year, Scott Young
(Guitar) and Mark Palfreyman (Bass) joined the band. New material
was written, incorporating fresher influences and in late 1997,
Alarum recorded it's first CD "Fluid Motion". 8 tracks of
death/thrash/jazz-metal.
Shows around Australia followed the 'release' of the CD, as well as
a film clip for the track Realization being aired on Rage &
Channel V. The track was also included on JJJ's Full Metal Racket
compilation CD. Performances at Metal For The Brain, Overcranked
and other metal festivals have also been some of the bands
highlights. The music has developed over the years including
elements of different styles of metal with some jazz/fusion
inspired sections. Offering a different sound, live performance and
outlook than most other bands, all members of the band enjoy
writing and performing the music that they do.
ALARUM. n. Obs. 1. An alarm. 2. The mechanism producing
